The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club's national ‘Drive it Day’/‘Ride it Day’ is the annual opportunity to raise awareness and support amongst the public for the historic vehicle movement and keeping heritage on UK roads.
It sees clubs schedule regional and local events throughout the country.
Importantly, it also raises funds for the NSPCC’s Childline, using yesterday’s vehicles to support today’s children.
Fundraising is an integrated part of ‘Drive it Day’, in which our movement comes together to contribute to a section of society that needs huge help and support – vulnerable children.
This money is raised by the purchase by drivers and riders of a fundraising ‘Drive it Day’ rally plaque. It’s an easy way for drivers and riders to show their support, and donate vital funds.
In 2023, the FBHVC raised a record £51,000!

Each year the Club organises an event to support the Drive It Day cause.
We will meet at an arranged location and then take to the roads on a predetermined route for approximately 40 miles passing through quaint villages and driving along quiet country roads, ending up at a selected place of interest or country pub for refreshment.
In 2024, we gathered at Cambourne before heading off to The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, near Biggleswade. We had arranged for our cars to park airside of the hangars along with several other car clubs. The aircraft displays were most impressive and the cafe served a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks.
In 2023, we gathered at Coton Garden Centre, near Cambridge, before taking a very indirect route of about 38 miles to The Golden Balls public house at Boxworth. We had arranged for our cars to park together in a separate area and for us all to enjoy a carvery lunch and a chat before making our own way home.
